Your Questions Answered
Q. What is an Umbrella Body?
A. If your business, organisation, charity or voluntary group will be processing
less than 100 CRB checks in a year then you will need to use an Umbrella Body
like ourselves, which has the capacity and the expertise to process many more
checks than that. Even if your Company or organisation is processing large numbers of CRB checks
you may wish to contract the task out for a simple fee against each check. No
Registration or Retainer Fee required.
Q. What is a Standard CRB check?
A. This is usually for jobs that involve working with children or vulnerable
adults. Certain other posts and professions would require a Standard CRB before
appointment.
The Standard disclosure would reveal details of any or all convictions,
cautions, reprimands or warnings which are held on the Police National Computer
(PNC). Any information surrounding the protection of children or vulnerable
adults and would identify those who are considered unsuitable or banned from
working with children.
Q. What is an Enhanced CRB?
A. The Enhanced Disclosure is for posts involving regular contact or direct work
with children or vulnerable adults, for example in the social care and child
care field, education and training, Scout and Guide Leaders, Football Coaches
and a whole host of other associated work places.
Q. What is a POVA First check?
A. Clients can request a POVA First check on the their Disclosure application,
which would allow customers to see the result of the POVA check before the full
Disclosure is received, which may enable a care worker to start work at the
earliest opportunity.
Q. How long does it take to get the check?
A.The process on average can take 4 to 5 weeks and we would help to ensure that
the application form is correctly completed and all the documentary evidence
assembled correctly to ensure as few delays as possible. Delays can occur with local police forces and other administrative problems
within the Criminal Records Bureau but generally these are minimized.
